Greetings,

I wonder whether anybody here have seen this new documentary film, to comment on it:

To Age or Not to Age -- the Movie
- documentary film from Robert Kane Pappas

Film Description:

TO AGE OR NOT TO AGE, a new documentary film from Robert Kane Pappas, the director of ORWELL ROLLS IN HIS GRAVE. Imagine a 120 year old as healthy and active as a 50 year old. Is it possible? According to Robert Kane Pappas' riveting new film, TO AGE OR NOT TO AGE, this is both possible and imminent. Since 2006 he has tracked the pioneers in the field of aging research at MIT, Harvard, Cambridge and other research centers. Scientists featured in the film has identified regulator genes that control the aging process; what's more, they have found that aging and disease are so closely related molecularly, that if you delay aging you delay and mitigate all the major diseases. A side effect is increased lifespan. That this can be done no longer seems in doubt. The real question now is "How soon" and "for how long"? The stunning paradigm shift is that aging and death are not the absolutes we once thought they were, some scientists think we will be able to reverse aging soon. Aubrey de Grey believes we will end aging as a cause of death.

TO AGE OR NOT TO AGE, ponder the repercussions of such profound conceptual change - the psychological, ethical, religious and economic implications of increased lifespan. Who will access to these medicines? Who will benefit from the breakthroughs? What about political power, population issues? Besides making the science itself understandable to the average viewer, Mr. Pappas' film gives a sense of who these scientists are, including MIT's Dr. Leonard Guarente, Dr. Cynthia Kenyon from UCSF, and major biotech entrepreneurs like Christoph Wesphal and his partner, David Sinclair of Harvard, who identified resveratrol, a substance found in the skin of grapes. But the story is bigger than a single compound or breakthrough, if is a watershed in our understanding of the human condition. 20 years ago there were 3 or 4 labs studying aging. Now there are several hundred worldwide. TO AGE OR NOT TO AGE? - that is the question.
